FBI SPECIAL AGENT
DUTIES:  FBI Special Agents are responsible for conducting sensitive national security investigations and for
enforcing over 300 federal statutes. As an FBI Special Agent you may work on matters including terrorism, foreign
counterintelligence, cyber crime, organized crime, white-collar crime, public corruption, civil rights violations,

trafficking matters, and other violations of federal statutes.  There is no such thing as a typical day for an FBI
Special Agent. Every day is different. One day you could be testifying in federal court, the next you could be

QUALIFICATIONS:  To become an FBI Special Agent you must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana
Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent.
Age waivers may be granted to preference eligible veterans who have surpassed their 37th birthday. You must
possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional

ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN
DUTIES:  Electronic Technicians (ET) install and maintain electronic equipment and lighting aids associated with
facilities and services required for aviation navigation to assure a reliable, safe, and smooth flow of air traffic. This
involves work with radar, communications, computers, navigational aids, airport lighting aids, and
electrical/mechanical support for facilities on and off airports within the network of the National Airspace System
(NAS). It includes periodic maintenance (inspection and analysis of equipment with associated adjustments),
corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of malfunctioning equipment, and certification.
ETs may also assist in the design, development and evaluation of new types of electronic equipment for the NAS.
Many ETs work out of offices located at or near airports and on service equipment located on airports, in Air Traffic
Control Towers (ATCT), Automated Flight Service Stations (AFSS), in open fields, or even on remote mountain tops.
It is often necessary to drive significant distances (100-200 miles) to reach facilities. ETs also work in Air Route
Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) maintaining equipment within the facility. ETs normally maintain the electronics
portion of facilities. Some ETs travel throughout a large geographic region of the country installing new electronic
equipment at a wide range of facilities and remote locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:  Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study or at least 24 semester hours in any
combination of the following: computer science, mathematics, electronics, physical sciences, information
management, engineering, telecommunications, or other fields related to the position. OR 3 years of work
experience, 1 year which was equivalent to at least FV-E, that provided a basic knowledge of the principles of
electronics, mathematics, computers, aeronautics, or related areas, or an understanding, both theoretical and
practical, of automated systems operation, integration, management, and maintenance. Experience may have
been gained in occupations such as computer specialist, electronics technician, telecommunications specialist,
engineer, or other work related to the position to be filled.

DUTIES:  Airway Transportation Systems Specialists (ATSS) install and maintain electronic equipment and lighting

DRUG AND ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE AND ENFORCEMENT INSPECTOR
DUTIES:  The incumbent serves as a Drug and Alcohol Compliance and Enforcement Inspector responsible for
conducting comprehensive onsite inspections and investigations (throughout the United States and its territories)
of aviation industry anti-drug and alcohol misuse prevention programs to determine compliance with the applicable

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST
DUTIES:  This is a developmental Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position responsible for the safe, orderly and
expeditious movement of air traffic through the nation's airspace. Vacancies for both the Terminal and Enroute
options may be filled from this announcement. The Terminal option controls air traffic at airports and give pilots
taxiing and takeoff instructions, air traffic clearances, advice based on their own observations, information from the
National Weather Service, Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs), flight service stations, pilots, & other
sources. Terminal Air Traffic Controllers transfer control of aircraft to the En Route Center controller when the
aircraft leaves their airspace, and they receive control of aircraft coming into their airspace. Air Traffic Controllers in
the En Route (Center) option give aircraft instructions, air traffic clearances and advice regarding flight conditions
while en route between airports. They provide separation between aircraft flying along the Federal airways or
operating into or out of airports. As a new Air Traffic Control Specialist, you will spend your first several weeks of
employment in an intensive training program at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, OK. While attending academy
training you will be on a temporary appointment.

SALARY: Individuals, who successfully complete initial qualification training at the FAA Academy and all other

DUTIES: Aviation Safety Inspectors (Avionics) in this specialty apply knowledge and skills typically acquired as
repairman of aircraft, aircraft parts, or avionics equipment to develop and administer regulations and safety
standards pertaining to the airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft and related equipment. They engage
primarily in the following types of assignments: (a) Evaluating mechanics and repair facilities for initial certification
and continuing adequacy; (b) evaluating the mechanic`s training program; (c) inspecting aircraft and related
equipment for airworthiness; and (d) evaluating the maintenance aspects of programs of air carriers and similar

overhauls; and the airworthiness of the aircraft. Aviation Safety Inspectors (Airworthiness) may perform a variety
of other inspections, investigations and advisory duties. However the primary requirement for positions in this
